It was founded by the Rajah Charitable Medical Trust (RCMT) with a simple, specific purpose: to bring free and subsidized medical care to a community that otherwise had to travel far for it.

Over four decades, that single clinic has grown into a 150-bed multi-speciality hospital covering 19 departments, from General Medicine and Cardiology to Neurosurgery and Gastroenterology, alongside round-the-clock casualty and emergency care.
