Campus Life: Change is the only constant thing in life and with the change being so dramatic, what's taught today may well be obsolete in 5 years` time. Jobs exist now that we had never heard of 10 years ago and 10 years from now, the world will be a very different place and so will the workplace. So, it's extremely critical that the students' are well exposed, their foundations are strong and they have an inquisitive mind to learn the latest and greatest of technologies that are yet to come. With this in mind, Cambridge Institute of Technology North Campus conducts a number of workshops, seminars and conferences for students to build a strong foundation to take on any challenge that may come their way in the future. Research: Engineers are driving global growth in times of technological dominance. At Cambridge Technology Institute, we nurture budding engineers and nurture their imagination into innovation. Under the guidance of our R & D Dean (Dr. D.Antony Louis Piriyakumar), our prestigious research & development department is flourishing every year. He is an IITM alumnus with 25+ years of experience in industrial and academic research, and a PhD in robotic vision, from the Stuttgart University of Germany. The R&D infrastructure of all 9 engineering sectors provides faculty and students with the greatest experience to attain an infinite vision of technology development. Our mission is to promote the value of scientific research and development in the mind of students. Based on the key findings from WEF and IEEE, 16 top technologies are identified and grouped which catapult all efforts undertaken in a focused and dedicated manner. At Cambridge Institute of Technology, we encourage the volition of innovation and the creation of the faculty members and students. We enlarge the avail of research and development for young minds. Our faculties have PhD degrees in several fields of engineering and we extend our reach to various engineering fields with the support and cooperation of our faculty members and students. Last year our faculties and students filed 4 patents in the area of nanotechnology, 3D printing, information security and medical imaging. We never restricted the blooming mind of our young engineers. Even during pandemic times, our enthusiastic students participate to find the solution to overcome the shortage of ventilators, disinfectants etc. They designed, developed and tested working prototypes of a ventilator, disinfection tunnel, fumigator, and automatic disinfection liquid sprayer among other interesting innovations. ICT Facilities: Technology has become an integral part of the institution. The recent pandemic challenged the existing IT infrastructure in most educational institutions. The institute has been taking many initiatives on regular basis to improvise the IT infrastructure. The computers are purchased on a regular basis to replace the old computer systems. In addition, the server is being continuously upgraded due to the changing requirements on social media and web interface. In addition, the internet facility which is a backbone of IT infrastructure is being upgraded on a continuous basis due to increased dependency on web-based transactions and activities. The institute has a strong digital marketing team which monitors its social media presence of the institute. All the classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors and in the recent past, each department has a smart panel through which hybrid modes of classes were effectively conducted. The institute also had a subscription to LMS during online classes which ensured smooth conduction of the teaching and learning process. IT infrastructure is maintained by the IT team headed by the IT admin. A few of the initiatives for upgrading IT infrastructure are mentioned below: Internet bandwidth is enhanced from 80 Mbps to 130 Mbps in the year 2017-18, Later it was enhanced to 300 Mbps at the beginning of 2020 and further enhanced to 530 Mbps (500Mbps TATA leased line + 30Mbps BSNL broadband) in November 2020. The institute has overall 1146 computers and 12 laptops in labs, computer centre and digital library to ensure smooth conduct of academic, teaching-learning and internet access. The entire campus including classrooms, labs, examination section, administrative office, library, hostels, staff rooms etc., are connected through the Local Area Network (LAN) for effective and uninterrupted usage of the internet. The Wi-Fi network has 68 access points deployed across the campus (Academic blocks and hostel blocks) for 24X7 internet service. 10 labs/lecture halls are equipped with a 65-inch Smart Interactive panel to facilitate a blended mode of teaching. The institute has 74 LCD projectors installed in various labs and classrooms which encourage technical presentations by the students and faculty to assist the smooth flow of the teaching-learning process. Institution has provided 63 digital writing pads to faculty exclusively for online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. Institute has Online Learning Management System (LMS) through the Olympus Great Learning platform. This platform was used extensively for the conduction of online classes during the pandemic. The college has 61 printers/printer-cum-scanner and 3 reprographic machines in all the departments, library, examination section and administrative office. 02 servers (IBM 3100.M5 server and Dell power edgeT430 servers) are available for uninterrupted Wi-Fi, CCTV monitoring and LAN services. The institute has 15 licensed software and 38 open-source software used in various departments, libraries and administrative offices. To ease the official communication, staff and students are provided with individual official e-mail IDs under the domain name cambridge.edu.in using Google apps. Library is fully automated with an Integrated Library Management Software LIBSOFT. Sports: Well-equipped sports facilities are provided on the campus. The indoor stadium is built with state-of-the-art infrastructure and is being used by staff and students on regular basis. The sports department is headed by Physical Education Director and organizes annual sports meetings in the college for students and staff. The Institution provides sports attire, TA, DA and accommodation for the students to participate in intercollege and University level sports events. Professional coaching is provided on the campus for Cricket, Volleyball, Throwball, Basket Ball, Table tennis, Badminton, etc. A few of the sports facilities provided are listed below: Institute has sports ground of 8041 Sq. Mts are available for conducting outdoor games like Volleyball, Cricket, Basketball, Badminton, Football Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Throw Ball, Handball, Netball, Softball etc. The facility was established in the year 2007. 200-meter athletic field is available for various events like jumps, throws and runs. Futsal court available to play mini football. Two Basketball courts are available to conduct national-level competitions. An indoor play area of 875 Sq. ft available for sports like Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis, Shuttle Badminton etc. Two Indoor shuttle Badminton courts are available to conduct national-level competitions. Two table tennis tables are available to conduct national-level competitions. Adequate carrom and chess boards are available for indoor activities. Gymnasium and Yoga: A well-equipped gymnasium facility with a built-up area of 750 Sqft. is established to ensure that the students are physically fit. Special fitness training is provided to the students who participate in intercollegiate sports competitions. The gymnasium has all modern gym equipment in sufficient numbers. A yoga centre is available within the campus to enhance the wellness of staff and students. Well, a qualified yoga trainer is available on the campus to conduct yoga sessions on a regular basis for staff and students. ADMISSION PROCESS: Students who wish to seek admission to the various undergraduate programmes in engineering at Cambridge Institute of Technology, Main Campus OR North Campus may do so via one of the following processes: Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by KEA. COMED-K and Selection Process Minimum Aggregate of 50% marks in any graduation MANAGEMENT QUOTA ADMISSION PROCESS Admission through the Management Admission process is open to both Karnataka and non-Karnataka students. SAARC and Other Foreign students are also eligible to apply. Eligible students (those who meet qualifying requirements as per the eligibility criteria) may contact the Admissions Department, to obtain the application form. Candidates will be selected based on their academic merit. Candidates must fill in the registration form. This is to be done at the College Campus. Visit the Admissions Department, and meet the Admission Counselor. Admission fee details will be shared with the prospective candidate. Once the seat has been confirmed, candidates may fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents. ELIGIBILITY FOR B.E. COURSES: A candidate who has passed the 10 + 2 patterns of examination (equivalent to the two-year Pre University in Karnataka) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering at CI TECH. The eligibility for admission is 45% in the case of the General Category and 40% marks in the qualifying examination in the case of SC/ST, Category-1 and OBC Category candidates. The marks obtained by the candidate in Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics in the qualifying examination will be considered in the place of Chemistry in case the marks obtained in Chemistry are less than the required aggregate percentage for the purpose of determination of eligibility (and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of engineering/technology courses).
