The Institute’s sound foundation is the proof of its tenacity to sustain its efforts to contribute meaningfully to the society by means of education and advanced research in the field of social sciences. Smt. Kamalini Sarabhai, one of the leading names in the field of mental health services was the key person to develop the pillars of B M Institute and transformed it into one of the pioneering institutions of Asia. The early activities of B.M.Institute, as an agency interested in conducting research, service and training in preventive social medicine, was reoriented upon the kinds of services which members of our society needed. Research and training components were built around these service functions.
