The Bharathi Educational Trust was started in 1987 keeping the distances of Kulai from the main city of Mangalore. The Bharathi Educational Trust started nursery and primary school with the help of enthusiastic public support. When the Bharathi Educational Trust came out with positive note both in terms of results as well as public image, the trust began its English medium high school in 1993, recognizing the need for the alround development of our institution it has been decided to establish a teachers training institute.

MDS teachers training institution was established during 2004-05 with the official permission of Government of Karnataka and NCTE with the well equipped infrastructural facilities the institute is making progress. Due to the fact that new primary schools have been started as a result of the generalization of education and the fundamental right to primary education as given by the Indian constitution that there is a growing demand for the primary school teachers there is a need to fill the vacancies created by the retirement of teachers the need for trained teachers has been felt more than ever.
