Overview

Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT) is a leading engineering institute located in the heart of Mumbai. As a constituent institution of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and an autonomous institute affiliated with the University of Mumbai, SPIT has established itself as one of India’s preferred destinations for engineering education through its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and value-based learning. The institute is situated on a picturesque 40+ acre green campus at Andheri (West), one of Mumbai’s well-connected educational hubs. The campus also houses four other prestigious institutions of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan: Together, these institutions create a vibrant environment that promotes academic excellence and interdisciplinary learning. In 1957, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan conceived the idea of establishing an engineering college in Mumbai. This vision was realized with the inauguration of Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE) on 19 August 1962.
