Overview

Chilarai College was established in the year 1973. The college was brought under the deficit grant-in-aid system in the year 1987 and University Grants Commission (UGC) listed the college under UGC Act of 2(f) and 12(B) in the year 2001. Chilarai College is the first college in the district of Dhubri to have been awarded by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, on October 4 and 5, 2004. The college has been awarded Grade 'B' by the NAAC with 73% of aggregate, so far the highest among all the colleges in the district. 26th January'73, was the first day of the college inside the Jogomohan Vidyapith Campus. Soon the college was shifted to Shibendra Nath Adhikary's double storied building. Mr. Naushad Zaman was the founder principal. Among the staff were Bhuban Chandra Prodhani, Shibendra Nath Adhikary, Chani Ram Ray, Giridhar Ray, Tarani Ray.
