Overview

Post-independence, farming, fishing, and salt harvesting were the primary means of livelihood for the local residents of Uran and its neighboring hamlets. Recognizing the transformative power of education, a group of visionary thinkers and entrepreneurs from Uran took a bold step towards shaping a brighter future. In 1963, they established the Citizens Education Society with the mission of creating a structured and accessible education system that would unlock opportunities for generations to come. What started as just two classrooms in a humble private house, graciously donated by a visionary founding patron, has grown into a thriving, full-fledged educational institution, shaping countless futures along the way. Citizens Education Society stands as a beacon of academic excellence, proudly offering education from Junior KG to Grade 10. (SSC Board) After completing their SSC, students of Uran had to travel to Panvel or Navi Mumbai to pursue their HSC education.
