Overview

ARCHITECTURE is one of the core professional fields—like law or medicine—that has been essential to humanity since the dawn of civilization. Shelter is a basic human need, but architecture goes far beyond simply building it. It shapes our physical environment and responds to the emotional and psychological needs of its users. Architecture is a unique blend of Art, Science, Humanities, and Technology, working together to design spaces for human life. It is an ancient science, as old as mankind itself, with roots in great civilizations like the Indus Valley, Egyptian, and Roman, continuing to evolve to this day. Architecture is both a process and a product—involving planning, designing, and constructing forms and spaces that reflect purpose and meaning. It demands creative coordination of materials, technology, light, shadow, and ambience. The practice of an Architect involves offering professional services related to the design and construction of buildings or groups of buildings, including the spaces around them, all intended for human use and occupancy.
