ABOUT

Overview

Established in 1991 under the leadership of Dr Rohit Baluja, the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) is a not-for-profit research and capacity-building organisation that has, for over three decades, served as the country’s premier institution across all domains of road traffic safety. Through an integrated, evidence-based approach, we work across driver training, road user behaviour, traffic engineering, infrastructure design, enforcement practices, crash investigation, forensic science, public health and policy frameworks to create safer and more sustainable mobility systems. Our research-based training has built capacity among Indian Police Services and State Police officers, personnel of the defence and paramilitary forces, highway engineers, transport authorities, professional driver trainers, drivers and riders, school and university students, educators and judicial officers across the country.
