Dr. Ambedkar College was started by late Sri. BASHKARAN, Ex-Deputy Mayor in the year 1978 in the name of Dr.

Ambedkar, the champion of the downtrodden, to impart higher education particularly to the downtrodden and weaker sections of the Society. The College has developed a lot in various fields, since its inception. Within a span of 30 years, over twenty thousand students have already availed the benefit of getting education from this institution.

The college at present offers Pre-University and Degree Courses. Dr Ambedkar Memorial Education Trust is Located at the heart of the city in Indiranagar and a quarter kilometer close to HAL II Stage Bus terminus on the 100 Feet Road. with buses connecting all destinations in and around the City & Cantonment area, far from the madding crowd with an excellent ambience for studies.

The pre-university course or pre-degree course, popularly abbreviated to PUC or PDC, is an intermediate course (which is known as 10+2) of two years' duration, conducted by state education institutions or boards in India. This pre-university course is also known as the Plus-two or Intermediate course.

A person desiring admission to an Indian university must pass this course, which can be considered as a degree bridge course to prepare students for university education. Admission to this course is based on marks obtained for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate. The state of Karnataka conducts examinations at the end of the second year of the PUC for university admissions.

This has three program streams with options focusing on science, commerce and arts, respectively. Students desiring to study professional programs in Karnataka must pass the science stream of this exam and qualify through the Common Entrance Test of the state. Recently, the Karnataka PUC Board made the first-year PUC exams public, to filter out low-scoring students and improve overall average scores.
