Technical education contributes substantially to the Socio-Economic development of the country as a whole. The development sustenance of the industrial sector is entirely dependent upon the availability of trained manpower to perform the multi-dimensional activities needed to keep the wheel of industry running. Thus the Polytechnic Technical Education aims towards making available these trained technically qualified hands to serve the industry and society.

To meet the situation, the management of Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur (Society) founded Dr. B. C. Roy Polytechnic at the centre of Durgapur in the year 2014. Born of a vision of a group of Durgapur based philanthropic entrepreneurs, the institute is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the architect of modern West Bengal.
