Late Dr. M.V. Shetty, MS, FRCS, FRFPS, was a distinguished figure known for his exceptional contributions across multiple domains. His professional excellence in surgery, coupled with a deep involvement in rehabilitation, set a remarkable precedent. Dr. Shetty assumed leadership roles in the state-run institution of Home Guards and worked as a dedicated surgeon at the first private Surgical Specialty Hospital in Dakshina Kannada District. As a Distinguished Professor of Surgery at KMC, Honorary Medical Officer at Government Wenlock Hospital, Director of the Lions Limb Centre, and Commandant of the D.K. Home Guards, he left an indelible mark on the healthcare and community service sectors. Dr. Shetty’s profound dedication and humane approach garnered respect from patients, colleagues, fellow doctors, students, and the general public. Beyond his medical prowess, he was known for his love of music and proficiency in playing the tabla, and his warm, understanding demeanor endeared him to students and peers alike.
