Overview

Gandhi Mahavidyalaya, Deogaon, Rourkela is a Progressive co-educational institution of higher education. It is situated in the Rourkela Smart city, flanked by N.H. 143 on the Rourkela - Keonjhar Road and well-connected to the key places of the city. It occupies a significant place in the academic firmament of Rourkela. The location of the college, as such, is away from the madding crowd of the steel city and indubitably conducive to the academic ambience. The idea of having a college in fertiliser township of Rourkela cherished in the minds of the local intelligentsia long before it could become a reality. In the year 1980, a few elders of the locality put their heads together to start a college when they found that demand from the public living in and around the area became a proposition of pressing need. In the process, the local administration also extended necessary co-operation to them.
