Established in 2008 by the Department of Education, Government of Gujarat, Government Arts College, Shahera is a premier public-funded institution dedicated to providing quality higher education to the youth of the tribal belt of Central Gujarat. Located at Kankari village in Panchmahal district, the College stands strategically between Godhra (20 km) and Lunawada (24 km), with State Highway No. 175 situated just 1 km from the campus. The major cities of Vadodara and Ahmedabad are approximately 120 km and 130 km away respectively, ensuring convenient connectivity.

The College began its academic journey in the year 2008–09 in premises of Shri S.J. Dave High School, Shahera. In 2013, the institution moved to its present, well-developed campus at Kankari village, marking a significant milestone in its growth. Initially affiliated with Gujarat University until the academic year 2015–16, the College is currently affiliated with Shri Govind Guru University, further strengthening its academic foundation.
