Government Polytechnic College, Sankarapuram is one of the seven polytechnics founded in 2013 as announced by the CM of Tamil Nadu under the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Rule 110. It was initially functioning in the Government Boys Higher Secondary School Campus, Sankarapuram. At present, the curriculum has blossomed into five diploma courses namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics& Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering with an intake of 60 students in each branch together with 20 per cent of students through lateral entry.
