College of Art & Crafts, Assam, Guwahati, situated at Basistha of Guwahati city, is a fully Government run college, under the administrative control of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam. The college is affiliated to the Gauhati University and operating from its permanent campus situated near the famous pilgrimage site of Basistha. The Govt. College of Art & Crafts, Assam, Guwahati is the earliest of its kind in the NE India and counted as one of the distinguished Institute of the country imparting Visual Art education. The college provides academic training and Bachelor degree in Fine Art/ Visual Art under the Gauhati University. The course of visual art is counted as a professional course and contemporary development and demands have well proved this. The course opens up the horizon and avenues to a host of modern and contemporary courses and higher studies, which have numerous importance and in demand in contemporary professional arena.
