Overview

This beautiful college is located in the sacred city of Malwa -- Sri Muktsar Sahib. This city witnessed the glorious and emotional reunion between the benevolent Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his devout forty disciples who had earlier left him by writing their 'Bedawa' (letter of parting). They redeemed it and sacrificed their lives in the service of their Guru. This holy land is known for being the hub of religious fairs and cultural activities. It was also known as an economically and academically backward area but everything changed 71 years ago with the opening of the Government College Sri Muktsar Sahib in 1951. The College was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sh. Gopi Chand Bharghava on June 3 1951. It was a path-breaking venture with far reaching effects. The college made a very modest beginning in a rented building of Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib. The College initially had B.A. and B.Sc. (Non-Medical) courses. The College shifted to the present campus on October 3, 1967. The three year graduate courses B.Sc. (Medical) and B.Com were introduced in the year 1967 and 1978 respectively.
