Act No. 6834 Dated 8 Sep. 1978. The chairperson of the educational society and chairman of the governing body is one of the great philanthropists and renowned educationist of this region, Shri Bodh Ram Kanwar, M.L.A. Katghora constituency. The College, established in july 1983, has emerged as a pioneer institution of its kind in the north Chhattisgarh. The college hosts about 1300 students in different disciplines and spreads over 57 acres of land at Hardibazar, situated in the heart of the Coal belt, 4 km away from SECL Gevra Project. The college is affiliated to Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur (C.G.) and registered under 2f and 12B acts of University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
