Overview
Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College, Aizawl possesses the unique position of being the first and only science college in the State of Mizoram, NE India. It was established by an act of the State Assembly in 2000 with the primary vision of providing science education. Since then, the defined goal of the college is to ensure quality education for empowering the native people – who are educationally backward in science education – by enhancing the status of science and technology. Since then, the college is now proudly marching towards its second decade of existence. The College is affiliated to Mizoram University and offers 10 UG course, besides 1 certificate course as a value-added course. It is registered under 2(f) & 12-B of UGC Act under the nomenclature ‘Govt. Zirtiri Women’s College’ in 1989, which was later re-named to its present form in 2000. Home Science, Biochemistry and Electronics are courses available in the college which are not offered anywhere else in the State. It is also the first college in Mizoram to start BCA programme.
