Overview
Jai Prakash Mahila College, Chapra is one of the best women's colleges in Saran, Bihar. The college is named after the freedom fighter, Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan. The college was established in February 1956 and it is a constituent unit of Jai Prakash University, Chapra. In 1957, the college received the recognition for intermediate study and the college held the examination for intermediate students in the same year. From 1957, the college started with B. A. (Hons.) courses in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Music, Philosophy, Economics, Political Science, Home Science, History, Psychology, Urdu(Subsidiary) and B.A. (General). From 1970, the college started with B. Sc. (Hons.) courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology and B. Sc. (General). From 2008, the college started 2 Year (4Semester) M.A. courses in Psychology and Home Science.
