The genesis of Jaintia Eastern College traces back to a pivotal meeting on June 16, 1992, held at Moowakhu, Dkhiah, chaired by the late Rev Tiplang Dkhar, then President of the Society for Higher Education. Attended by notable figures including the late Rev S.W. Lyngdoh, then Secretary of the Society for Higher Education, parents, well-wishers, and prominent citizens of the region, the meeting deliberated on the feasibility of establishing a college in Khliehriat.
