This is situated in dense population of tribals (70%) at Gumla district headquarters. It was established in July 1960 as an affiliated body of Ranchi University, Ranchi on a 56 acre of land, lavishly donated by the then Maharaja of Ratu, Lal Chintamani Sharan Nath Sahdeo on Palkot Road, near Puggu village at a distance of 3 kms from Gumla township. Several prominent people of Gumla including leading advocates, administrators and local people spearheaded the establishment of this college. Professor Laxmi Narayan, an English Professor was the founder Principal of this college.
