Welcome to Kannada University, Hampi which was founded in 1991. The institution has been recognized by the UGC as having state-of-the-art facilities and a commitment to quality and excellence. Furthermore, the university seeks to make its students globally competitive, making them proud citizens of the country. The school provides training in the field of performing arts. Kannada University is close to Hampi, a historically significant site. The word HAMPI conjures up mythical and historical associations. Inhabitants have resided here since the Stone Age, as evidenced by cave drawings left for posterity by Stone Age people. Many faiths have worshipped here in the past, including Buddhism, Jainism, Virashaivism, Vaishnavism, Islam, and many prominent religious cults such as Huligemma cult, Galemma cult, Mylaralinga cult, and Balabasava cult, many of which still exist today. Many kingdoms have ruled here, including the Hoysalas, Sindhs, and Kapilas, not to mention the Vijayanagara dynasty, which began here and ruled over most of South India for more than three centuries. The Vijayanagara Kingdom has also served as a symbol of Kannada identity, inspiring the Karnataka unification movement and symbolically portraying a united Karnataka. Many well-known Kannada poets have lived in Hampi, including Harihara, Raghavanka, Kumaravyasa, and Purandaradasa. Hampi is a treasure trove of Indian architecture that has been designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
