Overview

About the College Mahavir Mahavidyalaya, Kolhapur established in 1970 is one of the reputed institutions in Kolhapur and is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Since inception, it has been working with a vision of empowering students with higher learning and research capabilities through value based education and working for better education for better society. Though the college is in urban area, majority of the students of the college are from rural area. Most of them are from socially disadvantaged and economically backward sections and minority communities. The institute is recognized as a Jain Religious Minority College. The college was accredited with A (CGPA 3.11) grade in September, 2017 in its 3rd cycle by NAAC, Bengaluru. The college runs seventeen (17) Graduate Courses, two Post Graduate Courses - Counseling Psychology and English two Career Oriented Courses, six short term courses and distance education centers of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) and Shivaji University. The college has been running B. A. B. Ed. (Four Year Integrated) Course since 1985 that has produced a number of quality teachers in the jurisdiction of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The college is recipient of Certificate of Merit for securing the first rank in faculty of Education in Urban category. The students of B. A. B. Ed. and M. A. (Psychology) regularly figure in the merit list of Shivaji University. Recently, the teachers from Department of Geography and Psychology are recipient of the prestigious Barrister P. G. Patil Ideal Teacher Award and Best Teacher Award by Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
