The land is also called Mallabhum for almost a thousand years as it was the capital of Malla Kings of Mallabhum. The terracotta temples here are the best specimen of classical style of Bengal architecture. Apart from the unique architecture of the period, Bishnupur is also famous for its terracotta craft. Royal Patronage also gave rise to Bishnupur Gharana of Hindustani classical music in late 18th century which is really nostalgia for entire country.
