Overview

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSUNIV) is a thriving school of higher learning located in a rural setting in southern Tamil Nadu, with a 550-acre campus. On September 7, 1990, the Government of Tamil Nadu founded the University as a teaching-cum-affiliating University to meet the long-felt needs of the people of the three southernmost districts of Tamil Nadu, namely Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari. Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) is a thriving school of higher learning located in a rural setting in southern Tamil Nadu, with a 550-acre campus. On September 7, 1990, the Government of Tamil Nadu founded the University as a teaching-cum-affiliating University to meet the long-felt needs of the people of the three southernmost districts of Tamil Nadu, namely Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari. These institutions, three of which are over 100 years old, namely St. John`s College, M.D.T. Hindu College, and Sarah Tucker College, the state`s oldest women`s college, have made significant contributions to the cause of higher education in this region. The primary goal of the university is to develop individuals with the knowledge and intellectual curiosity to make a difference in their career and society, as well as to perform the research required to tackle the problems of the modern world. This is keeping us in line with the Vision-2023 document of our Honourable Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. Ms. J. Jayalalitha, and her aim to impart quality higher education to the students. The majority of this university`s students come from rural areas and come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. As a result, this University provides education at a low and cheap rate. The curriculum of the courses provided by this university are revised on a regular basis, and the university employs knowledgeable lecturers to present them.
