Overview

Mar Baselios College of Education is a self-financing college, run by the Minority community of the Catholic Diocese of Bathery. The teacher education was in progress from 1992 onwards. It was established in 2005 and is affiliated to the University of Calicut and recognized by the NCTE as per order No.F.KL/SEC/N/242/SRO/NCTE/2004-2005/785 dt.23/02/05 It is the brain child of His Beatitude Moran Mor Cyril Baselios Catholios, Major Arch Bishop of the Malankara Catholic Church and the college is patronized by His Excellency Most. Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas, Bishop of Bathery. The College is housed in a spacious multistoried complex on a large campus on the Gudalur-Ootty road, just one kilometer from the Town. There are hostels for men and women students run by the college. The Corporate Educational Agency of the Malankara Catholic Diocese started this institution of teacher education to cater to the educational needs of the people of this backward district, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
