About Melkar Degree College

Melkar Degree College is a private college in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, established in 2012. It is affiliated to Mangalore University, Mangalore. Campusbells lists it under General, with 3 courses (2 undergraduate and 1 postgraduate), including MBA, BBA and BCA. Approvals and accreditation: AICTE.

Mangalore Education Enhancement Trust, which has conceived this project, is a registered charitable education trust. It is formed by a group of socially committed individuals under the leadership of Sri S. M. Rasheed, a successful entrepreneur and a well-known philanthropist of Mangalore. Apart from this institution founded by him, he is also closely associated with several other educational, cultural and charitable bodies imparting yeoman service to society.

Education forms the foundation of a healthy society. This is especially true of women's education. An educated woman is an empowered woman. With good schooling she will not only be able to lead an independent life but also be a great source of strength for her entire family. In the Indian context social transformation goes hand in hand with education of the girl child. Unfortunately education of women continues to remain a neglected issue, more so in rural areas where nearly 70 percent of our population resides.
