Overview
Maharashtra Education Society, established in 1860 is one of the oldest private educational institutions in Pune. It was founded by pioneering revolutionary Late Shri. Vasudeo Balawant Phadke, in collaboration with Late Shri. Waman Prabhakar Bhave and Late Shri Laxman Narhar Indapurkar to impart education with a nationalist spirit to the students. At present Maharashtra Education Society runs forty educational institutions including pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, colleges, management institutes, military school for girls, vocational training institute, general hospital, ayurved college etc. The units are located at Pune, Saswad, Baramati, Shirwal, Navi Mumbai, Chiplun and Ahmednagar. MES Night College of Arts and Commerce was established in 2012 as an independent night college on the campus of the “ Abasaheb Garware College of Arts and Science”. Being centrally located, it proved to be very convenient for the students in the city. The strength of students about 821. Various optional and special subjects in Arts and Commerce curricula are taught in the college.
