Overview
MGAHV - Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya is a central university located in Wardha, Maharashtra, India. The World Hindi Secretariat was created in Mauritius following the Fourth World Hindi Conference (December 1993), when the need to give structure to the development of an International Hindi University in India was felt. This was made possible in 1997 when the Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University was formed in Wardha, the birthplace of the Father of the Nation, thanks to an Act enacted by the Indian Parliament. With the construction of this university, Bhartendu Babu Harishchandra was able to realize a yearning that had been lingering in his thoughts. `To develop a genuine Hindi university from our industry,` was the wish. One of Mahatma Gandhi`s goals was to have Hindi recognized as India`s official language. He said that without a national language, a country becomes deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly During the First World Hindi Conference in Nagpur (January 10-14, 1975), a resolution was passed calling for Hindi to be recognized as an official language of the United Nations and the establishment of an International Hindi University with its headquarters in Wardha. At the Second World Hindi Conference in Mauritius in August 1976, it was decided to establish a World Hindi Center in Mauritius to coordinate Hindi activities worldwide.
