Technology has dramatically altered nursing practice, teaching-learning environments in nursing. Increasingly, the health care system requires decision- making and services that respond to complex, unpredictable situations involving social, physical, economic, technological, and political factors. The knowledge and skills needed to practice in this environment must be grounded in the sciences and humanities, in nursing and other health care research, and in leadership principles that are applicable both to Hospital and community based care settings.

As such, preparation of nurses at the bachelorette degree level is the minimum qualification to function in this professional role.
