It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the National Institute of Technology Raipur, an institution with a rich legacy and a steadfast commitment to excellence in technical education and research. Established in 1956 as Government Engineering College Raipur, with its foundation laid by the first President of India, Hon’ble Dr. Rajendra Prasad, and later inaugurated by the first Prime Minister, Hon’ble Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the institute has evolved into one of the premier institutions of national importance since becoming an NIT in 2005.

From its humble beginnings with two departments—Metallurgical and Mining Engineering—NIT Raipur has grown into a comprehensive center of learning, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across diverse disciplines. Over the decades, the institute has played a significant role in the technological, industrial, and economic development of the region and the nation.
