Overview
NITK Surathkal - National Institute of Technology Karnataka is situated in Mangalore, Karnataka State, India. The college is regarded as one of the best college for engineering India. Founded in 1960, the Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) was upgraded to the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in 2002. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and philanthropist, made a considerable contribution to the development of Karnataka`s coastal region, the most notable of which was his effort to establish KREC (now NITK). The operation of NITK is regulated by the NIT Act, 2007 and the rules promulgated by the Government of India from time to time. The Board of Governors of NITK is made up of delegates from the Government of India, the Government of Karnataka, alumni, industry, and other bodies. The Government of India appoints the Chairman of the Board of Governors. The 296-acre campus is located along Karnataka`s coastline in sylvan surroundings. It is a self-contained residential campus with all of the required amenities. Faculty members with comprehensive academic and research expertise from prestigious Indian and international institutes/labs work to impart information and develop the technological and managerial skills of approximately 6000 students. National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK Surathkal) has a variety of annual activities for each season and talent to make the most of its diverse student body. The events seek to uncover any hidden talent, whether it`s in athletics or public speaking, coding or dancing.
