Overview
Presidency College, Motbung is the only Government College in Kangpokpi District of Manipur state, India. Pu Henkholen Sitlhou (01/07/1927-09/11/2013) is the founder of the College. It is one of the premier colleges in Manipur which was established in 1973 and received permanent affiliation from Manipur University, Canchipur, Imphal, Manipur since 1980. It is recognised by UGC under section 2(F) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956 vide letter No. MU/8/9/82-UGC(A)/3744 dated 12/11/1982. Having established with modest infrastructure and sheer determination, the college has grown from strength to strength and has become one of the best centres of learning in the state. Presidency College is located at Motbung, a picturesque tribal village through which runs the Asian Highway 1 formerly known as National Highway 39 on a beautiful hill side of the Koubru range, about 26 km north of the Imphal city. It is a co-educational institution. Since its inception, the college has introduced both General and Honours for undergraduate Degree Courses in various subjects in Arts and Science streams.
