Madurnatakam is a historically famous place in Kancheepuram district. My grandfather Mr. Sowbagmal Sowkar and our family had been serving in this small town for nearly 110 years. In 1955 our family had constructed a maternity ward in the government hospital, Madurantakam in the name of Mrs. Panibai. My father Shri.Dharmachand sowkar helped in renovating a new Chariot instead of the burnt one for Eri Katha Ramar Temple in Madurantakam. Once this town was educationally backward and to remove this backwardness our family had started Sowbagmal Sowkkar Girls Higher Secondary School in 1971 in Madurantakam, and now 3000 village girls are being educated in this school. My father had involved in establishing fire service station in Madurantakam and also served as a member of businessmen association.

S.D.Manokar Kumar, the chairman of Umra Kavar Educational Trust feels proud to be the member of this noble family. This Trust was started in the year 2004 and is serving the society through Social services, Education, Awareness programmes on social issues, charitable work, etc.
