Situated in the Ujani Majuli and North-Eastern Region of the world-renowned river island of Majuli, Ujani Majuli Kherkatia College, Ratanpur Miri, was established in the year 1973 with the noble objective of extending the opportunities of higher education to the educationally underdeveloped and geographically isolated areas of Majuli and its adjoining regions. Since its inception, the college has been rendering dedicated service in the field of higher education and has emerged as a significant centre of learning in the region.

The institution owes its present existence and academic stature to the relentless struggles, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment of its teachers, employees, and the local community. Beginning its journey with a limited number of students and amidst numerous socio-economic and infrastructural challenges, the college steadily progressed and achieved Pre-Degree recognition in 1983.
