Overview
Unitec Institute of Technology is situated in the city of Auckland, New Zealand and serves as the largest technological institute in the city. The institute was started in 1976 as Carrington Technical Institute but later in 1987, it was renamed to Carrington Polytechnic. Finally, in 1994, the institute was called 'Unitec Institute of Technology'. In 1999, the institute applied for University status but due to some issues, it remained as an Institute of Technology. Now, the academic institute is a part of the International Association of Universities. The core campus of the institute is situated in Mt Albert.
