Overview

The founders of Vijaya Vittala Institute of Technology believe that knowledge can empower the youth into a national asset by providing proper education and guidance. The institute is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgavi, is recognized by the Government of Karnataka and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. The college is located just 15 km from Bengaluru, the fastest growing metropolis in India, also known as the Knowledge and BioTechnology capital of India. Life @VVIT: Is a beautiful journey every day. Every day there is something fresh, something new & something exciting in the air. The environment is charged up & relaxed at the same time. We take a look at some of the unique aspects that make life at VVIT peaceful and makes it one of the best campus colleges in Bangalore, and is enjoyable & wanting for more Infrastructure and Technology The infrastructure at VVIT has been developed keeping in mind the needs of students and faculty and something that supports the rigorous academic study. Spread over 10 acres of tranquil landscape and a built-up area of 1,50,000 sq. ft, which houses lecture halls, a library, labs, workshops, seminar hall, canteen and residential area. These have been designed with meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful use of design and space, making it a truly ambient environment to pursue higher studies. The vibrant interiors, lush green outdoors and exquisite touches lend the college an ambience that is as delightful as it is inspiring. We at VVIT believe that the availability of new technology can make learning more creative, interactive and information-driven by using multifaceted delivery techniques. Library and Information Center The library is managed by qualified and experienced librarian Mr. Praveen, M. Lib, B. Lib, supported by other staff members. At present, the library has a stock of 10,456 volumes of books. The library also subscribed to over 98 journals, of which 56 National journals and 42 International Journals. Handbooks, standard manuals, technical reports and conference proceedings are provided. The digital library section houses an extensive range of CD-ROMs, DVDs and access to online journals. E-Journals are also made available to the students with a J-GATE subscription which provides access to more than 2000 full-text journals and 6000 bibliographic texts. The library serves as a rich workspace for students to do research and referencing. And to enable the student to spend adequate time at the library, the library works beyond college hours & the reading room is accessible to students on Sundays as well. Sporting and Leisure Activities As the proverb goes "All work & no play makes Jack a dull boy", sports, fitness & leisure activities are essential for the healthy overall physical & mental development of an individual. To fulfil this, the college has taken measures in all directions. The department of Physical Education and Sports focuses to imbibe in student's discipline, team skills, leadership qualities and a sense of belonging through sports activities and the practice of Yoga. Adequate infrastructure facilities for indoor and outdoor games have been provided with separate grounds for Cricket, Football, Volleyball and a Basketball court. There is also a gymnasium within the campus. Students are encouraged to participate in all events. Extra-Curricular activities are student-driven and new initiatives are encouraged. The college provides a platform for students to mould & showcase their talents through the Annual Intra-college Fest "Vishista Vijaya" and Annual Sports Day. To boost the students' morale, winners of all the events; be it sports, literary or cultural are awarded on College Day. The best of the college's talent is also displayed to all on the College day held every year. The students are encouraged to participate in inter-college sports & cultural competitions organized by universities & colleges across India. A Unique Approach: Academic Governance With a view to ensure that VVITians get the very best of academic exposure, all academic activities at the college are governed and monitored by the Advisory Board and the Governing Council comprising of eminent personalities and experts from the field of academics. The board oversees critical aspects such as Programme Design, Implementation and Feedback. Regular Student Feedback & Grievance Redressal System Specific problems of students are identified through monthly student feedback and remedial action is initiated by the faculty, HOD or Principal. Any other student grievances are also immediately looked into by the Principal & Management. Academic Orientation A Strong academic orientation lays the foundation for life-long learning, ingraining in the youth the psyche of the eternal student. It is imperative that all students attend the orientation program conducted on campus. The orientation program enables the students to familiarize themselves with the teaching methodology and aids used in the classroom, and the use of facilities on the campus and the library. The program also focuses on academic and personal counselling, enabling students with the necessary study skills required for an academic setting, and enabling students to adjust to different methods of teaching. Strong Support System VVIT believes in regular parent-teacher interaction to improve the student's performance. The college website provides individual logins to parents with access to student`s academic results and attendance. In addition, monthly progress reports are sent through SMS to parents' mobile numbers. Regular interaction between class teachers and parents ensures that parents are kept abreast of the student's progress and performance. The students are also assigned to a mentor/proctor with whom they can share their problems and difficulties. The mentor/proctor personally monitors the student's progress, assesses and understands their needs and capabilities, counsels them and helps them to overcome their difficulties & inhibitions. All in all a strong support system for our students is ensured, making sure that the challenges of adolescence do not hinder their growth. Curriculum and Beyond VVIT is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi the public state university in Karnataka. The curriculum prescribed by VTU is followed at VVIT. The theory and practical syllabus are constantly revised by VTU to keep the students on par with industry demands. In addition to the prescribed curriculum, regular industry interactions are ensured through field trips, industrial visits, internships & addresses by eminent industry experts. To inculcate interest and passion for research, Conferences & Workshops are organized annually at the institute. Students are encouraged to attend and present papers at conferences, seminars and workshops. Personal Attention & Continuous Internal Assessment At VVIT, Personal attention and care are given to each student to help him develop academically as well as ensure all-around development. Students receive regular feedback from the respective faculty. The faculty employs a range of assessment methods to assess the student's understanding through written work, Internals, Unit tests, Assignments, Projects, Presentations & Model Exams. Students receive a constructive suggestion from their instructors. Be it by written comments, personal interactions or e-mail, VVIT faculty pay careful attention to the academic performance & growth of every student. Scholarship and Financial Aid The management is committed to providing financial help to deserving students of all categories. The scholarships, offered by Management are primarily aimed at promoting quality education among the students. Students with brilliant academic records (PCM aggregate greater than 75%) are eligible to apply for merit scholarships. Discipline and Values We at VVIT believe that if we are to succeed in the task of nation-building, our youth need to develop a sense of values and discipline which will form the basis for their approach to everything around them, making them responsible and sensitive citizens. Installing a deep sense of values and discipline is a continuous process and forms a part of all the activities of the college. Research & Product Innovation Cell: The Research and Product Innovation Cell (aka R&D Center) aims at imparting inventive and research-oriented engineering education to students by enabling them to become capable of solving practical problems of society with innovative methods and processes. As mere theoretical engineering education with standard laboratory work is insufficient to make the students employable by the time they complete their curricular study, the centre aims at honing their independent thinking ability, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial skills so as to empower them to contribute towards the economical development of the country. Students are trained for conducting practical research, and for developing useful products starting from conceptual ideation up to prototype completion. The centre is well equipped with tools and computer hardware and software systems for conducting university-level research work and developing prototypes of products.
