Founded in 1960, Biswanath College stands as a beacon of higher education on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, carrying with it a rich heritage of over 63 years. Named after the renowned Biswanath Temple, one of the oldest and most revered temples in Northeast India, the college embodies a deep connection to both culture and academic tradition.

From its humble beginnings, Biswanath College has evolved into one of the premier institutions of higher learning in Assam, committed to fostering academic excellence and holistic development. Under the visionary leadership of its long-serving principal, Sadananda Chaliha, the college grew in stature, breaking barriers and setting new standards in education during a time when the region, formerly known as greater Assam, was considered underdeveloped in many aspects.
