Overview

Established on 20th August 1987 in the premises of Kamrup Academy H. S. School through the untiring efforts of a few noted educationists and social activists, College of Education, Guwahati, now located at Christianbasti, is a non-Government teacher education institute offering B. Ed programme (secondary level) under Gauhati University. The contributions of Late Dandeswar Gogoi, an educationists and educational administrator, Late Ramananda Baruah, IAS (Retd.), Shri Bharat Saikia, a social activist, Prof. Upendra Nath Bora and many others marked the beginning of this college. Late Dr. Gogoi was the Founder President of the Governing Body of the college and contributed to the growth of the college till his last days. Late Ramananda Baruah succeeded as the President after Late Dr. Gogoi. Shri Bharat Saikia was the Founder Secretary and has been offering his services for the growth of the college till date.
