U. College in Udupi . U College a "A."

S. Hegde, a Supreme Court of India judge and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, founded the Nitte Education Trust in 1979. Justice Hegde was a true believer in the importance of education in a community’s long-term growth, and the Nitte Education Trust was founded on this belief.

Since the founder’s demise, his son, Shri. N. V.

Hegde, has taken up the challenge of turning his father’s visions into reality. The Trust has three campuses: Bangalore, Mangalore, and Nitte. There are 26 Colleges in all, including a Medical College with a 715-bed teaching hospital, a Dental College, two Engineering colleges, three Management colleges, and a variety of other schools and colleges.

In addition, through numerous urban building programmes, the Trust aims to enhance the quality of life of the socially and economically vulnerable. Mangalore’s Dr. Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Pre-University College was established in 1998-1999 in memory of the late Dr.

Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya, a philanthropic medical practitioner who worked to develop rural education and health care. Our goal will be to provide students with facilities that will enable them to learn in a relaxed environment while also supporting their overall growth and development. We will aspire to live up to the words of our late president, Justice K S Hegde: "You have done well, but you must do much better."

For the past eight years, the college, which was relocated from Deralakatte to Nanthoor, Mangalore in 2006-07, has provided a quality education.
