Overview
Shillong Government College of Engineering (SGCE), established in 2022, is the first engineering college in the state of Meghalaya. As the pioneer of engineering education in the state, SGCE was founded to strengthen Meghalaya’s technical capacity and create new opportunities for aspiring engineers. The institute is located at Mawlai Kynton Massar in the East Khasi Hills district and is affiliated with North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). After years of planning and development, the first academic semester officially commenced in August 2025, marking a significant milestone for the college and for engineering education in the state. Further elevating this achievement, SGCE was officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya on 31st October 2025, reaffirming the institution’s importance in shaping the region’s technological future. Located in the serene academic setting of Shillong, the college fosters an environment that encourages learning, innovation, and professional development.
